Abstract
The important use of all sizes of Artemia salina Leach in the rearing of crustaceans and fishes has led us to develop a technique for mass production in large volumes of 40, 50, and 150 m³. Technique: after imbibition of freshwater the eggs are incubated at 25 °C in water filtered on1 pm + U. V. The further rearing is carried out at 25 °C in water of normal salinity filtered on 100 µm. Concentration: (1) at J 1 the concentration is of the order of 1,000 nauplii/l ; (2) at J 10 the concentration is of the order of 300 nauplii/l; (3) at J 15 the size is approximately 6 mm. Water changes: (1) at J 0 the vat is filled at 1/2; (2) at J 1 the vat is filled at 1/4; (3) at the end of the culturing process 1/6 of the water is renewed, either with water filtered on 100 µm or by epuration and recycling. Food: is composed of CPSP 80 and Spirulina sp. distributed several times a day. Production: varies from 0.7-1.3 kg/m³ of drained Artemia .
