Abstract
Three species of Limnomedusa, twelve Narcomedusa and nine species of Trachymedusa have been found in the waters surrounding Laing Island, Papua New Guinea. One new species, Laingia jaumotti , is described. Its originality is such that a new family, the Laingiidae, and a new sub-class, the Laingiomedusa, have been erected. Besides the genus Laingia , the Laingiidae comprise Kantiella enigmatica , initially described from Seychelles but also abundant at Laing.
