Abstract
The distribution and abundance of chemical species at hydrothermal vent sites and the ability of organisms to deal with them are fundamental factors determining the distribution and abundance of animals within this habitat. The main objective of this study was to analyse the chemical and physical environment surrounding the vent organisms at a given site. The Genesis site (12 degree 48'63 N, 103 degree 56'41 W, EPR) was chosen considering its physical characteristics and the set of available data obtained in the last decade. Owing to its size magnitude, the site appeared to be a suitable workshop for multidisciplinary approaches, hosting both hot and diffuse vents on a small area.
