ILVO macrobenthos in soft sediments: macrobenthos monitoring in the Belgian Part of the North Sea since 1979 [ILVO macrofauna data: macrofauna monitoring op het Belgisch deel van de Noordzee sinds 1979] Citation Availability: Restricted The data are withheld from general circulation and disclosure but access may be obtained on a case-by-case basis through negotiation Notes: Release with permission of the appropriate parties Description Density, species richness and diversity of epifauna and demersal fish is being monitored on the Belgian Part of the North Sea since 1979. more Sampling campaigns are organised two times a year, one in spring and one in autumn on a number of stations spread over the Belgian Continental Shelf. The macrobenthos is sampled with a Van Veen grab with a sampling surface of 0.1m². After fixation the samples are sieved on a 1 mm sieve and sorted in the lab, identified, counted and wheighed. The used parameters are density, species richness and diversity.
