Transfer of bacterial carbon to the benthic fauna - INVERSE [Transfer van bacterieel koolstof naar benthische fauna - INVERSE] Citation Van Oevelen D., Soetaert K. 2002: Transfer of bacterial carbon to the benthic fauna. Netherlands Institute of Ecology; Centre for Estuarine and Marine Ecology, Netherlands. Metadata available at http://mda.nioo.knaw.nl/imis.php?module=dataset&dasid=1167. https://marineinfo.org/id/dataset/1167 Contact: van Oevelen, Dick Availability: Restricted The data are withheld from general circulation and disclosure but access may be obtained on a case-by-case basis through negotiation Notes: Release with permission of the appropriate parties Description From May - October 2002, NIOO-CEME conducted an experiment in which during 4 days 13C labelled glucose was injected in the top 10 cm of the sediment of the intertidal Molenplaat in the Western Scheldt, The Netherlands. more This experiment was set up to unravel the importance of bacterial carbon for the benthic food web. For this purpose, sediment samples were taken during and after the injection of 13C-glucose to measure the building-in of 13C in bacterial lipids and in benthic organisms. The amount of respired carbon (13C-DIC) was also measured. This database contains all collected data.
