Hand trawling data for Zeebrugge, Heist, Duinbergen and Wenduine, starting from 1983 [Kruigegevens vanaf 1983 voor Zeebrugge, Heist, Duinbergen en Wenduine] Citation Contact: Debedts, Dirk Availability: Restricted The data are withheld from general circulation and disclosure but access may be obtained on a case-by-case basis through negotiation Notes: Release with permission of the appropriate parties Description Information on the catches of hand trawling along the Belgian East Coast has been collected since May 1st, 1983. more The weight of the caught shrimp is recorded, as well as the amount of other fish caught in the trawling-net. Undersized fish was not counted and immediately released into the sea. Next to catches, there is also a mentioning of the moment of low tide and the water level at the present low tide. This information was extracted from available tide-tables. Starting from april 1984, the hand trawler also reports on the wind-force and –direction and also the number of trawls that has been made per trawling event. This dataset also contains limited information on the catching of crabs (from November 2002 until June 2004).
