Abstract: The Bay of Fundy Species Information System provides taxonomic, biological and ecological information on diatoms, dinoflagellates, marine algae, most invertebrate groups, fishes, shore birds, and marine mammals using various information resources including published literature and experts for specific taxa. The Bay of Fundy is a large embayment on the east coast of Canada and is an integral part of a larger complex hydrographic system that includes the Gulf of Maine. It contains and sustains a great variety of fishery and wildlife resources and provides habitat for a number of rare or endemic species, such as the right whale. The Bay of Fundy is best known for its highest tides in the world, but also represents one of the most productive ecosystems known.Purpose: The Bay of Fundy Species Information System is dedicated to providing taxonomic, biological and ecological information on diatoms, dinoflagellates, marine algae, most invertebrate groups, fishes, shore birds, and marine mammals. OBIS Schema concepts implemented in this particular data set are: DateLastModified, InstitutionCode, CollectionCode, CatalogNumber, ScientificName, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, ScientificNameAuthor, Country, Locality, Longitude, Latitude, StartLongitude, EndLongitude, StartLatitude, EndLatitude.
