Phytoplankton monitoring RADIALES - Section off Gijón (N Spain, Cantabrian Sea); mid-shelf (station depth 108m); sampling depths 0, 35 and 70m Citable as data publication Scharek R.; Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO); (2015): Phytoplankton monitoring RADIALES: Section off Gijón (N Spain, Cantabrian Sea); mid-shelf (station depth 108m); sampling depths 0, 35 and 70m. https://doi.org/10.14284/49 Contact: Nogueira, Enrique Availability: This dataset is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Description Monthly time series of phytoplankton species abundance, integrated in the water column at a fixed oceanographic station off Gijón (NW Spain) more Phytoplankton abundance at several depth strata (0, 30, and 75 m) collected in a fixed oceanograpgic station in the Northwest Iberian shelf (station depth 109 m) off Gijón. Monthly sampling at sea with regional Research Vessel. Sample acquisition using Niskin bottles with a rossette sampler equiped with CTD probe and other automatic sensors (e.g. in vivo fluorescence). Fixation and preservation of samples with Lugol. Analysis at the laboratory under the inverted microscope following Uthermol protocols. Scientific names according to World Register of Marine Science (WoRMS). Periodical intercalibration among expert phytoplankton taxonomists.
