Carbon and nitrogen fluxes in Gazi Creek (Kenya) Citable as data publication Rao R.G.; Dehairs F.; Baeyens W.; Department of Human Ecology; Research group Analytical, Environmental and Geochemistry. VUB: Belgium; (2016): Carbon and nitrogen fluxes in Gazi Creek (Kenya). https://doi.org/10.14284/121 Contact: Availability: This dataset is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Description Leaves were collected from five main mangrove species: Avicennia marina, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal, Rhizophora mucronata and Xylocarpus granatum occurring at Gazi Creek on the East Coast of Kenya. They were analyzed for the determination of organic carbon and nitrogen contents. A field experiment with litter bags was also initiated to study the decomposition of yellow, senescent leaves of Ceriops tagal for 1, 3, 6, 9 and 15 days. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Rao, R. G. (1991). A contribution to the study of carbon and nitrogen fluxes in a kenyan mangrove ecosystem. MSc Thesis.
