Description
Depth distribution of total Al, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb, Ca, Mg, POC, and nitrogen in sediment cores from a series of stations in the Tudor, Makupa and Gazi creeks of the Kenyan coast sampled between February 1985 and September 1986. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Oteko, D. (1987). Analysis of some major and trace metals in the sediments of Gazi, Makupa and Tudor creeks of the Kenya coast: a comparative investigation into the anthropogenic input levels. Thesis. Vrije Universiteit Brussel: Brussel. 190 pp. more

Cores from deep water (ST 1 BTC, ST21TC, ST32TC, ST43TC) were sampled by scuba diving by manually pushing the corer into the sediment and cores (ST1CTC, ST5IBTC and ST62BTC) were sampled from the intertidal mud flats extruding below the mangrove canopy. In the laboratory they weresubsampled into sections. Total Al, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Ca and Mg were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) using a Varian 27AA5 spectrophotometer while Cd and Pb were determined by graphite furnace (flameless) atomic absorption spectrophotometry using a Perkin Elmer AAS 5000 spectrophotometer equiped with AS 40 Sequencer Autosampler.
