Description
Measurements and counts of fish caught by motorized boats in May 1932. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Gilson, G. (1932). Destruction du jeune poisson par la pêche littorale à moteur. Annales de l'Institut d'Etudes Maritimes d'Ostende = Annalen van het Zeewetenschappelijk Instituut, 2. Zeewetenschappelijk Instituut = Institut d'Etudes Maritimes: Oostende. 20 pp. more

Study on the influence of wind-driven to motorized fishing boats on the destruction of young fish living in the Belgian littoral area. The fishing in the littoral area of the coast of Belgium has undergone a profound transformation since the publication in 1928. Before, it was practiced almost exclusively by sail - but today, the entire fleet of small boats is equipped with motors. Two unforeseen factors have aggravated the destruction of marine fish: the reduction in size and the use of organic materials by the industry.
