Description The early life histories of neonate sea turtle species are very poorly known because of technological limits (lack of small-scale tracking technologies capable of remotely recording the animals’ positions days, weeks, or months). Yet, species recovery requires understanding of spatial distributions, potential threats, identification of important nursery habitats, and life stage-specific survival. The data comes from a study which tested and deployed small-scale, solar-powered satellite tags on young, oceanic stage sea turtles with the goal of describing early sea turtle dispersal and habitat use. more This project was made possible by funding from NOAA SEFSC, the National Academies Research Associateship Program, Large Pelagics Research Center Extramural Grants Program, Florida Sea Turtle Grants Program, Save Our Seas Foundation, Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund, the Ashwanden Family Fund, the Nelligan Sea Turtle Research Support Fund, and personal funds.
