Tidal currents maps of the Belgian Part of the North Sea based on OPTOS/COHERENS models [Stromingskaarten Belgisch deel van de Noordzee op basis van OPTOS/COHERENS model] Citation Contact:
Beheerseenheid Mathematisch Model Noordzee en Schelde-estuarium (IRScNB/KBIN-BMM), more Availability: Unrestricted The data are freely available to anybody and may be used for any purpose. Usage acknowledgement may be required Description The current maps show graphically the results of the OPTOS / COHERENS model. This operational model by MUMM used to do hydrodynamic predictions. The currents were determined by using the computer, solving equations that describe the propagation of a tidal wave in shallow water. These equations were adapted to the Belgian coastal zone and describe the evolution in time and space of the water level and the components (north and east) of the average flows.
