3D modelling of intertidal beach zone (Mariakerke-Bad, March 2017) [3D-modellering van intertidale strandzone (Mariakerke-Bad, maart 2017)] Citation 3D Data Acquisition Research Unit - UGent, Belgium; (2017) 3D-modellering van intertidale strandzone (Mariakerke-Bad, maart 2017). https://marineinfo.org/id/dataset/5888 Contact: De Wulf, Alain Availability: For more information on the restrictions, use contact information. Description During the March 2017 campaign, three MTLS surveys using a Kymco® Special Service Vehicle (SSV) were performed. The measurements took place on 14, 20 and 23 March. The complete zone (equal to coastal section 103) of the study site of Mariakerke-Bad was measured. Simultaneously, the beach topography was also measured with the aid of GNSS antenna’s mounted on small beach carts, using the FLEPOS RTK network to receive GNSS corrections. The acquisition time is 3 - 4 hours, making GNSS profiling a cost-efficient but time consuming and labour intensive task, compared to mobile laser scanning. Spatial resolution of the GNSS surveys lies between 0,25 and 0,5 pts./m², while the mobile laser scanning yields a point density of > 500 pts./m². Vertical accuracies of the different mobile laser scans (compared to the simultaneous GNSS reference measurements) range from 1,7 cm to 2,5 cm.
