IMIS

The EDIOS directory provides a new internet-based tool for searching information on observing systems operating repeatedly, regularly and routinely in European waters. The EDIOS directory contains metadata on European observing systems such as platforms, repeated ship-borne measurements, buoys, remote imagery, etc. EDIOS is an initiative of the European Global Ocean Observing System (EuroGOOS). The directory was developed during the EDIOS project, co-funded by the European Commission Research Directorate General. The EDIOS metadatabase currently (30 September 2004) holds over 8,500 data entries, which are regularly updated. An overview of the total of measuring series supplied per institute (country) is presented on the Data-holders page. The EDIOS Directory is maintained on a regular basis and can be searched on-line at the following internet address: http://www.edios.org On-line searching can be done by 2 types of user-interface, i.e. Quick Search and Full Search, both providing a combined alphanumeric - geographical interface. This CD-ROM version gives background information on the EDIOS project, the EDIOS directory, examples of the on-line Quick Search and Full Search user dialogues and moreover a copy of the EDIOS metadatabase (version: end September 2004) including an alphanumeric search application, that will run stand-alone on your PC or notebook.
