ASMOP1: Anadromous spawning migration of pike in Matsalu Bay and River Kasari delta-estuary (Baltic Sea) from 2018-2020 Citation Rohtla, M.; Svirgsden, R.; Tambets, M.; Estonian Marine Institute - University of Tartu; Wildlife Estonia; Estonia: Anadromous spawning migration of pike in Matsalu Bay and River Kasari delta-estuary (Baltic Sea) from 2018-2020. https://marineinfo.org/id/dataset/7894 Availability: Unrestricted after moratorium period Data are initially restricted, but the access condition relaxes to academic or unrestricted once a specified period of time after an event (such as collection, publication, completion of QC procedures or project cessation) has elapsed Description Pike (Esox lucius) (n=106) were tagged with acoustics transmitters in Matsalu Bay, Baltic Sea (Estonia) to track their spawning migration to River Kasari delta-estuary using and array of stationary receivers deployed in the inner bay and in fresh water. The tagged fish were tracked for three spawning seasons to identify: 1) their migration patterns; 2) which general spawning areas (i.e. rivers, floodplains) are still in use and which are not. The ultimate goal was to provide advice to the management for potential restoration projects in the delta-estuary area which was canalized and dredged in 1926-1938.
