Description

A dewatering caisson will be used for the renovation of the rails of the lock of Wintam. Hydrodynamic forces resulting to the passage of ships are calculated on the caisson. This dataset contains the calculated forces originating from return currents . Forces are calculated for the top and the side of the dewatering caisson for 17 conditions of ships sailing into the lock (as well as from upstream as from downstream direction). Differents sizes of ships are considered and influence of keel clearance, width and draft of the schip is investigated.

more

Data generated with Python scripts for calculating hydrodynamic forces on bed related to return currents of ships and scripts for calculating the related forces on the caisson. Data contain results of the calculations for 12 conditions of ships sailing the lock into upstream direction (Duwkonvooi_opw, Zeeschip_opw1, Zeeschip_opw2, Zeeschip_opw3, Zeeschip_opw4, Zeeschip_opw5, Zeeschip_opw6) and 5 conditions of ships sailing the lock into downstream direction (Zeeschip_afw). Data contain results of calculation of velocity from the return current on the caisson and the resulting horizontal and vertical forces on the caisson. Return currents are calculated both using the formulas from Design of LOCKS and using the formulas from the ROCK MANUAL.
