Prof. Lange, Manfred

Manfred A. Lange received a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Kiel, Germany in 1980. After a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Californian Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, USA (CalTech), he held a position as staff scientist/glaciologist at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany. From 1992 to 1995, he was the Director of the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. Between 1995 and 2007, Manfred Langei was appointed full Professor in Geophysics (a position he still holds) and was the Director of the Institute for Geophysics and the. Center for Environmental Research (since 1998) at the University of Münster, Germany. Manfred Langei has been coordinator and participant of numerous projects of the European Union and the European Science Foundation and coordinates various nationally funded research projects. Since September 2007, he is the founding Director of the Energy, Environment and Water Research Center of the Cyprus Institute in Nicosia, Cyprus. His main research interests center around the utilization of renewable energy sources, energy- and water use efficiency in the sustainable built environment and the assessment of climate change impacts.
