My principal research interests are the systematics and ecology of freshwater copepods, especially planktonic Calanoida and Cyclopoida from South America, which I have been publishing articles about for the last 20 years.
I am an assistant professor at Department of Hydrobiology, Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil), and I regularly teach graduate-level copepod identification training courses, as well as for researchers in general. I also guide students at all levels and I have participated in and coordinated research projects on continental zooplankton, from South America and other continents.
Almost daily I consult the WoRMs database to check taxonomic information on different species, such as their validity, distribution, many description articles, among others. I have a special interest in contributing to the resolution of taxonomic problems about Neotropical copepods in WoRMS, verifying the nomenclature, and adding images with important characters.
