Abstract
    The work covers a study of a quasi steady ship-ship interaction problem taken from a model test conducted in FORCE Technology’s towing tank, where an ASD type tug is located next to a tanker, while advancing with constant speed. The tug is located in a number of longitudinal and transverse positions along the tanker with different drift angles. The RANS code Star-CCM+ is used to simulate a subset of cases taken from the experimental test program in order to study the local flow field and the surge and sway forces and the yaw moment acting on the tug due to the presence of the assisted ship. The computations are compared with experimental data and the CFD results generally look promising. Though, there are some cases, which seem to be challenging for the CFD tool and more worked is planned to study this further.
