Abstract
Numerical simulation of welding processes allows the assessment of the residual stresses and deformations. Accurate results require the precise knowledge of the operating conditions and the materials. Because of the large temperature range the material overcomes during the process, complex phenomena may occur. The material can therefore be modeled using different levels of complexity. This paper presents a discussion of the influence of the material modeling, applied to a welding process, on the final results.
