Deals with measures that should be taken to continue the container transport by inland vessels on shallow-draft waterways in the United States. The following waterways are examined: Columbia-Snake River System, Mississippi River and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway System and the Tennessee-Tombigee Waterway System. In Europe the container-on-barge services on the rivers Rhine, Meuse, Scheldt, Seine and Rhone were also studied. |
