Abstract
Nettodarus brevirostris (Facciolà) previously known only from Sicily is recorded from western Atlantic waters near Miami, Florida. The characters and synonymy of the species, which is retained in the monotypic family Nettodaridae, are reviewed. The family is placed close to the Dysomminidae in the group of families that include the Myrocongridae, Xenocongridae and Muraenidae.
