Abstract
    A survey on chemical defensive Systems and defense behavior of rove beetles (Col.: Staphylinidae) is presented. Apart from topically irritant defensive secretions, hemolymphtoxins, antimicrobics, fungicides, adhesives and attractants, spreading-active beetle compounds are treated.
