Abstract
    Block erection, also known as ship assembly, is the technological stage of completing the overall assembly, welding, outfitting, and painting of the ship on the shipbuilding berth (dock) on the basis of pieces assembly and welding, block and block assembly and welding, pre-outfitting, and pre-painting. Ship assembly is commonly known as ship general closure. As ship assembly generally needs to be carried out in the berth or the dock which are very limited and important resources of the shipyards, the quality and speed of ship assembly have a great impact on ensuring the quality of ship construction and shortening the period of ship construction (Liu et al. 2011).
