Abstract
The osmoregulation and oxygen uptake of Sphaeroma hookeri Leach and S. rugicauda Leach were studied at different salinities and temperatures. S. hookeri had a higher general level of respiration and a more marked respiratory rise in low salinities than S. rugicauda. There was no direct correlation between the degree of osmoregulation and the rate of respiration because S. rugicauda at low salinities kept its blood more concentrated than S. hookeri.
