Abstract
    This chapter explores how climate change has impacted the Eastern African Coastal Forests region. Focusing on the scientific underpinnings of climate change dynamics, and the specific impacts on the Eastern African Coastal Forests much emphasis were put to examine the social-economic and demographic trends and see how local communities are benefiting from its conservation. Emphasizing more on the vulnerability of endemic species and biodiversity hotspots, the chapter discusses the societal and economic ramifications of these environmental changes on local communities. In detailing the direct consequences of rising temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, and extreme weather events, the chapter examines the challenges faced by coastal populations, particularly those reliant on fisheries and agriculture. It also delves into the potential loss of iconic species and habitats, illustrating the interconnectedness of ecological and human well-being in the region. Additionally, the chapter explores conservation and adaptation strategies, emphasizing the importance of marine protected areas, community-driven initiatives, and sustainable resource management. It calls for a comprehensive and collaborative approach, considering the transboundary nature of many coastal ecosystems and the need for regional cooperation. The chapter concludes with policy recommendations aimed at mitigating climate change impacts and preserving biodiversity
