Abstract
The File yoldia Yoldia limatula is native to the cold-temperate waters of the eastern coast of North America. The species was likely introduced to Western Europe via ballast water and was first detected in the Dutch part of the Western Scheldt in 2019. The first observation on Belgian territory was in 2020, at the beach of Koksijde. In its natural range, the File yoldia primarily occurs in subtidal shallow waters in bays and estuaries. The species prefers silt-rich substrates.
