Abstract | Boccardiella hamata is a bristle worm native to the North West Atlantic and North Pacific oceans. Currently, the species is found in many temperate regions, including Belgium (since 2001) and the Netherlands. It may have been introduced to Europe via the transport of crustaceans for aquaculture purposes. Alternatively, it may have spread via international shipping. The species drills holes in the calcareous shells of molluscs. |
