Community analysis and feeding ecology of the ichthyofauna in Gazi Bay sampled in August 1993 Citable as data publication De Troch M.; Vincx M.; Marine Biology Section; Zoology Institute. Ugent: Belgium; (2016): Community analysis and feeding ecology of the ichthyofauna in Gazi Bay sampled in August 1993. https://doi.org/10.14284/146 Contact: Availability: This dataset is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Description Counts of observed fish species and numerical and gravimetrical stomach analysis for 9 fish species at the West and East creek of Gazi Bay during a 2 day sampling in August 1993. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: De Troch, M. (1995). Gemeenschapsanalyse en trofische organisatie van de ichthyofauna in een tropische baai (Gazi Bay, Kenya; Community analyses and trophic organisation of the ichthyofauna in a tropical bay (Gazi Bay, Kenya). MSc Thesis. Universiteit Gent. Mariene Biologie. Instituut voor Dierkunde. Vakgroep Morfologie, Systematiek en Ecologie: Gent. 136 pp. more Dataset on the fish fauna of the seagrass beds in Gazi Bay (Kenya). 8 stations were sampled with a beach seine in the two main creeks of the bay. A total of 3152 fishes was caught, comprising 75 species (40 families). The measured lengths of the fishes caught show that all species were present as juveniles. In a second part of this study the feeding ecology of the dominant species was investigated by stomach analyses (numerical and gravimetrical). The species (and the different length classes) were selected based on their length-frequency distributions and densities.
