Temporal patterns of bacterial diversity in a changing environment [Temporele patronen van bacteriële diversiteit in een veranderende omgeving] Citation Availability: Restricted The data are withheld from general circulation and disclosure but access may be obtained on a case-by-case basis through negotiation Notes: Restrictions available at contact person Description The objective of this dataset was to evaluate possible changes in bacterial communities in relation to changing food availability. more This dataset is the result of DNA extraction, PCR amplification of 16S rDNA and DGGE (Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis) analysis of cores taken at BCS stations 115 and 330 during spring and autumn of 2003. The objective of this dataset was to evaluate possible changes in bacterial communities in relation to changing food availability. In a bench flow cores with were taken in each sampling site, using a piston-style core with a 3.57 cm inner diameter. The top first centimetre of sediment was taken and split into two 2ml ependorfs for further DNA extraction. This was replicated twice, obtaining so 4 sub-samples from each of the three replicated cores taken at Contributors Related datasets (Partly) included in: PROJECT DATA: Integrated data from projects PODOI and Trophos (1997-2006), more Project TROPHOS: Higher trophic levels in the Southern North Sea, more Publication Based on this dataset Franco, M.A.; Vanaverbeke, J.; Steyaert, M.; Vincx, M.
