BOOPAP: Buoys of Opportunity - Porcupine Abyssal Plain Citation Lampitt, R., Rundle, N., Whoriskey, F. 2017. Buoys of Opportunity - Porcupine Abyssal Plain. https://marineinfo.org/id/dataset/7913 Contact: Whoriskey, Fred ; Availability: This dataset is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Description The Porcupine Abyssal Plain Sustained Observatory (PAP-SO) is a sustained, multidisciplinary observatory in the North Atlantic coordinated by the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. For over 20 years the observatory has provided key time series datasets for analysing the effect of climate change on the open ocean and deep-sea ecosystems. It is part of Fixo3, a network of fixed oceanographic stations in the Atlantic Ocean. This buoy provides an excellent platform for OTN's buoys of opportunity loaner program which aims to increase the number and geographic distribution of tag detections within the North Atlantic. In collaboration with personnel at NOC, OTN installed 1 VR2W 69kHz acoustic receiver on the PAP mooring in 2017.
