Abstract: | We are a science-based government department whose business is helping Canadians live and prosper in an environment that is properly protected and conserved. It's our goal to help make sustainable development a reality in Canada and, by doing so, make our country an example to the world.
The Ontario Region of Environment Canada delivers national programs tailored to respond to regional and local issues; implements Great Lakes 2000 and the Canada-Ontario Agreement (COA) Respecting Great Lakes; and represents Environment Canada corporately, in binational, national, regional and local partnerships.
Our priorities are based on sound scientific research. They are also priorities that have come forward in meeting after meeting with Canadians. They are: clean air , clean water , climate change and nature conservation . |
