Abstract:
De Algemene Inspectiedienst (AID), Plantenziektenkundige Dienst (PD) en Voedsel en Waren Autoriteit (VWA) fuseren per 1 januari 2012 tot Nederlandse Voedsel- en Warenautoriteit (NVWA). De organisatie gebruikt deze naam sinds 16 november 2011; nog voordat de fusie een feit is. In juridische zin blijven de PD, AID en VWA bestaan tot de fusie is voltooid.

Vanaf 1 januari 2012 bestaat de NVWA uit 7 onderdelen: 5 divisies, een stafdirectie en bureau Risicobeoordeling & onderzoeksprogrammering. De organisatie staat onder leiding van een inspecteur-generaal. Hij vormt samen met de plv. inspecteur-generaal en de directeuren de directieraad van de NVWA.
