Abstract: | "The CRIOBE is a marine research station with ressources that are available for missions, programs and projects in various areas in the context of the Pacific island ecosystems . The CRIOBE includes different entities with different objectives : - A research center. As such, the CRIOBE is contracted under the USR 3278 CNRS- EPHE. The research is primarily dedicated to increasing knowledge of the coral reef ecosystem. - An Environmental Observatory . As such, the CRIOBE is contracted as "" Service d’Observation of INSU"". The observatory monitor a network of 13 sites spread across the South Pacific and including Polynesia , Tonga , Samoa, Cook Islands, Kirribati and Pitcairn . This network collects biological observations and gather continues oceanographic parameters of the water . - A marine station. The CRIOBE is the only marine station based overseas among the network of French marine stations (RESOMAR ). The CRIOBE can accommodate up to 30 students and scientist on site and make available various equipment and facilities, and staff to carry out various research programs . - A role of communication and awareness . This is an important objective, namely the transmission of knowledge to the civil society to better mainstreaming conservation and wise management glimpse of the ecosystem. The Institute of Pacific Coral Reef is an institutional tool for these operations and promotes the transfer through training and seminars. " |
