Abstract:
Production and characterization of highly reactive species such as carbenes, nitrenes, cumulenes,….have received, inter alia, much attention. Mass spectrometry is indeed a relevant technique for the study of such species due to their increased lifetimes when isolated in the gas phase. Their identification relies on the structural characterization of the corresponding ionized counterparts and is based on methodologies developped on multi-sector instruments. The recent acquisition of a hybrid quadrupole - time of flight mass spectrometer has opened new applications in the field of (bio)polymer chemistry. Additionally, analytical applications have been developed in trace analysis in complex mixtures and gas phase analysis of organometallic compounds used in chemical vapor deposition experiments.
