Abstract: | HMRC is a semi-autonomous entity within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University College Cork. Primary objective is providing a capability for carrying out advanced research of international status in all aspects of engineering in the marine environment. The Centre houses the only experimental wave research facilities in Ireland which were significantly upgraded during the E.U. STRIDE Operational Programme for Ireland (1991-1994). A wide variety of specialist instrumentation and high speed data acquisition systems is available together with a high quality electronic and mechanical workshop. A computer system, with an extensive suite of proprietary numerical modelling tools, is also maintained by the Centre. |
