Abstract
"EURODELTA is a concerted action on Mediterranean prodeltas, a crucial link between fluvial deposition and marine sedimentation, yet a major gap in our understanding of coastal and shelf systems. Ongoing research is generating an extensive database on prodeltas for a variety of practical and scientific purposes. We realise that many investigators are

  1. working in the same area with no co-ordination and different objectives,
  2. facing independently similar problems in different prodeltas, or
  3. working on prodeltas with only limited knowledge of the influence of adjacent sub aerial deltas.

These researches, or practical activities, when integrated, will result in a substantial improvement of our understanding of prodelta systems. In this respect the objectives of the proposed concerted action are to integrate, standardise, share and make available data from the largest number of Mediterranean prodelta."
