Abstract
The position and slope of the water surface under the influence of waves can be seen as a stochastic process and in daily practice the sea surface is described by a number of statistical parameters. This research proposal intends to investigate statistics of directional wave fields in finite depth by means of direct numerical simulations of the Euler equations. Both directional and finite depth effects have significant impact on wave statistics, but detailed investigation is very limited until now.
