| Abstract | | The aim of this project is to assess to what degree variation pattern in sexual reproductive strategies and ploidy are related to morphological and molecular-phylogenetic variation patterns in selected diatom taxa. This approach will make it possible to investigate how observed variation patterns in morphological, cytological and reproductive features have evolved, and, vice versa, to what degree reproductive processes play a role in speciation processes in diatoms. |
