| Abstract | | Our project aims to study the hypertrophic development of the lower jaw musculature in some eel-like catfisches of the family Clariidae. The following aspects will be studied : a) detailed morphological analysis on the microscopical level b) comparative morphometric analysis of external measures c) analysis of the performance ability d) carrying out experiments whereby the preference of fishes for different types of prey can be investigated e) ecological study of the diet and parameters of the habitat choice f) systematic-taxonomic characterization of the species g) a functional-morphological study. |
