Abstract
The growth response of fish depends mainly on body weight, water temperature and water quality as well as on quantity and quality of the feed. The production costs of the fish can be reduced by optimizing the feeding ration-growth relation. But the use of highly digestible - low pollution feeds can also reduce the costs, enabling more efficient use of the available water, higher production densities and lower effluent costs. Accurate water quality management is possible through an optimization of the feeding frequency. Examples of a sensitivity analysis are given.
