Abstract
    The prawn Palaemon adspersus Rathke, 1837 was recorded in 1996 for the first time in Belgium, in the Sluice-dock of Oostende, where it proved to be quite common. Since the fauna of this seawater basin bas been extensively studied in the past, it can be reasonably supposed that its colonisation is fairly recent. The species is also reported in the harbour of Zeebrugge.
