Abstract
It is known that navigation of vessels on the waterways of limited dimensions is accompanied with a number of side effects in comparison to waterways with sufficient widths and depth.

At the present in the world literature there are many different methods for determining the critical speed of navigation on the waterways of limited dimensions. In this paper the authors present several methods for calculating critical speed as well as several methods for calculating the height of the generated waves, which were applied on one channel direction within the Danube-Tisa-Danube system. The procedure for calculation is realized on the examples for three vessels which differ in their constructive and exploitation characteristics and are built for navigation on the channels of the Danube-Tisa-Danube system

The goal of this paper is to present the way of determining the critical and the real speed of navigation as well as height of the vessel generated waves.
