Abstract
The present report describes the analysis conducted to improve the overtopping assessment for cases that are typical at the Flemish coast. Sea dikes and quay walls with non-standard geometries (such as storm return walls in combination with wide crests or promenades) are analysed. Furthermore the overtopping reduction for very oblique wave attack is examined and results from physical model tests carried out at Flanders Hydraulics Research are discussed. Finally the overtopping assessment method for a simple dike and in presence of a foreshore with very shallow water is discussed. An overview of numerical models applicable to cases at the Flemish coast is also given.
