| Abstract | This research project covers the role of artists in preserving the intangible heritage of coastal communities on the Brazilian shoreline and in turning it into a touristic asset. The sea heritage, represented by two traditional fishermen communities, will be studied in terms of interaction between the following three main actors linked to natural heritage: a local population, a tourist and an artist. The aim of this paper is to present the framework of two case studies – to be carried out among the communities of Marujá and Quilombos da Fazenda, situated in State Parks on the coastline of the State of São Paulo – on which further academic research will be based. These studies adopt a methodology of action-research, which consists in provoking a social situation that implies the active participation of all actors involved. |
