Abstract
This briefing article highlights some of the findings of the report produced by Harlow on the use of non-standard rock groynes as part of a Standing Conference on Problems Associated with the Coastline-funded research project, supplemented with additional examples from other reports, in order to disseminate to a wider audience and to stimulate discussion on the application of non-standard rock groynes and coastal defences in general.
