Abstract | Synedra subula Sande Lac. & Suringar is rarely encountered today. Although a reasonable description was provided, the species has never been illustrated. Having discovered the type specimens in the diatom collection of the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden (the Netherlands), this short account presents details of some specimens using only scanning electron microscopy as no light microscope slides exist or have been prepared. |
