Abstract | This study emphasizes the usefulness of Oligochaeta communities as descriptors of pollution in the fine sediments of large rivers. Two indices of biological quality of fine bottoms are proposed and are related to chemical parameters of the water. Tentative proposals are made for an empirical classification of polluted fine sediments. |
