Abstract
The evolution of oil contamination in marine invertebrates collected in the Baie de Morlaix was monitored using both UV fluorescence spectrophotometry and high resolution gas liquid chromatography. The contamination appeared to be non-selective and resulted especially from phagocytosis of contamined food particles and direct pinocytosis of non soluble fractions. By contrast depuration was realized through selective metabolism and retention processes. One year after the wreck, despite a general tendancy to depuration, some heavy alkanes and aromatic compounds were still identifiable in several organisms.
